Well, let's see. A lot has happened in the past year and a half since the previous update. Most notably, I've released a new CD under my name, without the Tin Man Alley moniker. (I figured it was time to simplify the whole name thing...) The CD's called "Dear Significant Other", and it loosely revolves around the fact that, even in our most "significant" relationships, we're still "others", and sometimes "others" have to figure out how to get along.... Hmmmm, maybe you should just listen to the CD and help me figure out what it all means. Anyway....

CD Baby immediately chose the CD as one of their favorites, and decided to review it and feature it on their front page for a few days.They've also made it a Top Pick in both the Modern Rock and Brit Pop categories. This all means a lot to me since I have such huge respect for Derek and crew: they've really made the most amazing place for independent musicians to get their music to the world.

Speaking of amazing people helping out indies, Brian and Linda from Just Plain Folks were kind enough to sneak one of the new songs into the running for the 2002 JPF Music Awards, even though the full CD wasn't finished yet. The song, "Promise You Anything", came out a Finalist as Best Modern Rock Song, and will likely be a single from the new CD.

In the," well, the CD's too long so something has to go" category.... I'll probably also be making available for download a song called "Shake Like That" that got cut from the CD, but is being featured in a soon to be seen GAP commercial. It's kind of a Hives meets Nashville kind of song....

That's all for now. Hope you're all well.

In an attempt to simplify my site, I've decided to switch from a periodic news update to a short summary of highlights in the life of TMA. So, without furthur ado:

"Public Display of Affliction" finished as a Finalist in the Best Modern Rock Album category in the 2001 Just Plain Folks Music Awards, with "Hello Goodbye" finishing as a Finalist as Best Modern Rock Song. My thanks to Just Plain Folks for the enthusiastic support of the album (and giving us a chance to do some fun showcases).

RADIO FREE VIRGIN and KCLA Internet Radio now featuring music from "Public Display of Affliction", reaching over 2 million listeners a day.

"My City" and "Wanna Be" licensed to documentary feature "Talk Fast", now running at a Film Festival near you.... ("Wanna Be" is the Main Title song!}

Public Display of Affliction becomes a "Top Seller" at CD Baby. Thanks to all the fine people who bought copies. I really appreciate it. ("Hello Goodbye" was put on their "Top Seller" compilation disc as a result).

The first single from the CD, "Hello Goodbye", is available at iuma.com and mp3.com as a FREE download. Please go to the Singles page to get the links.

Par Winberg and his great website for melodic music, Midwestern Skies (www.melodic.net) choose "Public Display of Affliction" as "One of the best indie CD's of the year". See our "Reviews" section for the entire review, or visit Midwestern Skies to see hundreds of other reviews worth checking out. Thanks Par.

"Public Display of Affliction" makes it to number 45 on CD Baby's top 100 sellers list in its first month of release. Thanks to all who spent their hard earned cash on it....

PDA sells out its initial shipment to CD Baby after one week on the site. Emotional Wreckords scrambles to get more copies to the warehouse to fill back orders.

PDA becomes available for purchase on CD Baby. What an amazing CD store!

Major record label puts Tin Man Alley song "Promise You Anything" on hold as the next potential smash hit for one of their most successful artists. The song missed getting on PDA by one week, but may have a life of its own even before TMA gets the chance to release it.

It all started when... in 1998, Warner Bros. decides to put "Superman", (a song that will appear in revised form on Tin Man Alley's 2nd CD in 2003) in their Denzel Washington movie "Fallen". (Actually, it started long before that, but that's for the history section...).
